Ficza reveals Argentina absence frustration
He’s happy to be back in Japan
Ferenc Ficza says missing FIA WTCC Race of Argentina was “very frustrating” but insists he’s ready to return to action at Twin Ring Motegi from 2-4 September.
Zengő Motorsport’s rising star was prevented from competing in South America due to the onset of appendicitis. However, he’ll be back racing his Honda Civic WTCC in Japan this weekend.
“It was very frustrating but I try to be strong and I try to prepare for this weekend,” said Ficza, who won the TAG Heuer Best Lap Trophy at WTCC ROSNEFT Race of Russia in June.
Like team-mate Dániel Nagy, Ficza will be making his debut on Twin Ring Motegi’s 4.801-kilometre road course. By seeking advice from last season’s pole-sitter and former Zengő driver Norbert Michelisz, the 20-year-old hopes he won’t be at too much of a disadvantage at WTCC JVCKENWOOD Race of Japan.
“Norbert help me a lot and I tank him,” said Ficza. “I saw the on-board [footage] from last year, I drove the simulator and I also saw the data.”
