The Castrol Honda Team decided to change the engine on Tiago Monteiro’s Civic following the technical problem that spoiled the Portuguese’s qualifying session.
Daisuke Horiuchi, WTCC Project Leader at Honda R&D explained: “We had issues with the water cooling system. Having analysed the data, and because of the overheating issues, we decided to change the engine as a precautionary measure.”
The change means that Monteiro will be demoted to the back of the grid for tomorrow’s Race 1.
