Dahlgren back with Polestar for WTCC finale
He’s been testing a lot recently
Robert Dahlgren will be back on track in the FIA World Touring Car Championship when the Losail International Circuit hosts the season-closing WTCC DHL Race of Qatar next week.
Dahlgren, 36, replaced fellow Swede Fredrik Ekblom at Polestar Cyan Racing for the WTCC events in Portugal and Argentina earlier this season. He has been given a further opportunity to race the squad’s second Volvo S60 Polestar TC1 alongside Thed Björk when he will put into practice knowledge and experience gained from taking part in an ongoing development programme.
“To put the work into use from the development programme by racing in the season finale feels really rewarding for me and I can’t wait for it to begin,” said Dahlgren, who narrowly lost out on the Scandinavian Touring Car crown to team-mate Richard Göransson.
While Björk has the honour of giving Volvo Cars and Polestar Cyan Racing its maiden WTCC victory in China last time out, Dahlgren was the first Volvo driver to set a fastest race lap, a feat achieved in 2011.
