Curitiba - FP1: Huff fastest in the wet
Villa was finally able to complete his very first laps
The track was wet and slippery after an early morning shower when the first practice started. A few drivers had moments on their first laps: Bennani, Lee and Fabiani spun, the latter slightly hitting the barrier at turn 7, while Oriola, Barth and Poulsen missed the braking point at turn 1 and made trips on the grass.
The front-wheel drive cars benefited from the track conditions and filled the top of the time-sheet. Huff set an early fastest lap of 1:33.507 that no one was able to match, though Tarquini (1:33.690), Monteiro (1:33.751), Menu (1:33.754) and Muller (1:33.781) were close behind.
Nykjær emerged as the fastest of the Yokohama Trophy in sixth overall (1:33.931) ahead of Bueno.
Coronel who had set the fastest time in yesterday’s test took a cautious approach and ranked 9th, with Dahlgren in 10th.
The 16-year old Spaniard Oriola posted a promising 12th fastest lap, while Dudukalo, whose car was rebuilt by the SUNRED crew after yesterday’s crash, classified 15th.
Villa was finally able to complete his very first laps in the Proteam Motorsport BMW after missing the whole testing day because of a steering problem.
