Coronel and Monteiro lead the warm-up
BMW Team RBM also made up some ground
Warm up went without incident this morning as the WTCC drivers took to the track for a 15-minute session ahead of this afternoon’s races in Morocco.
A trio of SEAT León TDI cars were fastest in the session with Tom Coronel posting the quickest time of the morning with a lap of 1:46.125. His SR-Sport team mates, Tiago Monteiro (1:46.144) and Jordi Gené (1:46.443) were second and third respecitively.
BMW Team RBM also made up some ground with Augusto Farfus recording the fourth quickest time of 1:46.512 and team mate Andy Priaulx sixth with a 1:46.814, nearly a second faster than his qualfying run.
Tarquini had the measure of the field yesterday, but this morning’s times were closer to the defending champion with Cornonel’s fastest just 0.295s slower than Tarquini’s pole position lap from yesterday. The reigning champion didn’t record a flying lap in the warm up however, so it remains to be seen how much more speed the Italian will find.
The scene is now set for what looks to be an exciting afternoon of racing through the streets of Marrakech.
