One among the many local drivers who will take part in the WTCC Guia Race of Macau, Charles Ng has joined the championship at Suzuka with DeTeam Engstler Motorsport.

On his second appearance, at Shanghai Tianma last week, he swapped from the team’s BMW 320si to a new BMW 320 TC and was able to score his first point.

“I did not expect this result on my first outing in the new car that I had never tested. Especially after I made a mistake in qualifying that forced me to start from the back of the grid. In Race 1 I got hit from behind and although the car could make it to the end, the team had to rush to fix a broken suspension and the alignment during the repair time. They did a great job, the car was not perfect but I could fight for the positions in Race 2 and elbowed my way to tenth overall and fourth in the Yokohama Trophy. It was a great achievement and an unforgettable finish for my second WTCC race weekend and first in a turbo car!” said NG, who is now looking forward at this home races.

“Carrying forward the momentum, the team and I have come up with a plan for Macau and we expect to finish in the top ten again. I grew up watching racing in Macau and it has been my dream to be able to race against the world’s best drivers. Now the dream of my life comes true!”
