The WTCC competitors who run in BMW 320 TC cars have been allowed from this event to mount three carbon fibre doors, providing the driver’s door remains the original one.
The decision was taken by the FIA Touring Car Committee, upon a request from BMW Motorsport, to help teams to reach the minimum weight of 1150 kilos. In the same decision the Committee rejected the request to remove the hat rack, because this meant cutting part of the body shell.
Six BMW cars out of the seven entered in the WTCC Race of Slovakia benefitted from this decision, while Franz Engstler will have to wait until the next races in Budapest.
