Campaniço joins the WTCC field in Macau
At the wheel of a BMW 320si
Portuguese driver César Campaniço was the latest addition to the FIA WTCC field for the season’s finale at Macau.
The 30-years old from Lisbon will be at the wheel of a BMW 320si car run by the Team Novadriver Total, the very same car he raced in this year’s opening event of the FIA European Touring Car Cup at Braga, where he won the second race from the eventual European champion James Thompson.
Campaniço is one of Portugal’s more experienced drivers. After claiming a number of victories in karting he climbed up the single seater hierarchy, from the German Formula ADAC to the A1 GP. He later switched to covered-wheels and clinched twice the Portuguese Touring Car Championship for BMW in 2007 and 2008.
He also took part twice in the Macau F3 Grand Prix, finishing 10th in 2002 and 9th in 2003.
