Building runs on schedule at RML

RML has released a second ’sneak peak’ illustration of its all-new TC1 challenger, to be run by customer teams in the forthcoming FIA World Touring Car Championship.

As previously reported, the multiple WTCC champions are currently completing the build of six RML Cruze cars in line with the new FIA WTCC TC1 regulations – a complete overhaul on last year’s model which powered Yvan Muller to his fourth drivers’ crown.

A complete ’clean-sheet’ design, the 2014 project does provide some extra challenges with limited timescales before the season gets underway in Morocco in just over two months. The team of designers and mechanics have been working flat out to ensure the cars will be delivered on time. Parallel teams have also been working hard on the new evolution of RML’s ultra successful 1.6L engine.

With design sign off for final componentry due next month, the delivery of customer cars is expected by mid-March.

Ron Hartvelt, Director of Motorsport said: “We’re making very good progress on this project. Our manufacturing and build crews are incredibly busy and we’ve taken on additional support staff for these important next few weeks as we complete our build plan. Everything is running on schedule on both chassis and powertrain; we just have to complete our final step on the design phase with componentry and then we’re straight into build and installation. As always, we have a very dedicated, hard-working group at RML working on this project and we all look forward to seeing the new Cruze come to fruition when it takes to the track.”
