Brno - FP2: Muller is fastest again
Huff now 2nd, Menu 3rd
Yvan Muller posted the fastest time once again in the second free practice with a lap of 2:10.202 that he clocked in the session’s early stages and nobody was eventually able to match.
Like in the previous practice, the Chevrolet trio filled the top spots, with Rob Huff climbing up to second with a lap of 2:10.387 posted with three minutes to go that enabled him to demote Alain Menu’s 2:10.840 to third.
The Cruze were the only cars to lap under the 2:11 mark, leaving the Volvo, BMW and SUNRED drivers to fight for the positions from fourth downwards.
Robert Dahlgren set the fourth fastest lap in the Volvo C30 (2:11.288), followed by Tom Coronel’s BMW 320 TC (2:11.516) and Gabriele Tarquini’s SUNRED León 1.6T (2:11.784).
Norbert Michelisz topped the Yokohama Trophy in seventh overall (2:11.918) with his closest competitors – Michel Nykjær, Darryl O’Young and Franz Engstler – classified from eighth to tenth all of them covered by 0.5 seconds.
Urs Sonderegger and Mehdi Bennani spun at turns 9 and 7 respectively, but both managed to rejoin.
Once again Tiago Monteiro could not set a proper lap time, his car still suffering from technical problems.
