Björk: I am really pleased with the weekend
Björk goes climbing in the WTCC
Thed Björk made a sensational start to life as a Polestar Cyan Racing driver in the FIA World Touring Car Championship by overtaking nine cars during WTCC JVCKENWOOD Race of France at Circuit Paul Ricard on Sunday.
With a ground-clearance penalty relegating him from a provisional sixth place after qualifying to the back row of the grid, Björk charged through from P16 to finish seventh in the Opening Race, demoting nine cars in the process and landing his maiden WTCC points.
“I am really pleased with the weekend,” said Björk, Scandinavian Touring Car champion for the past three seasons. “We have got a receipt that we are on pace. We had some issues but that is to be expected and the team has done an amazing work with the car. I can’t wait to get to the next race in Slovakia.”
Team-mate Fredrik Ekblom was also in the points in France, coming home P10 in the Main Race.
