Basso´s stage win makes up for slow start
"I drove very well for those two stages"
Giandomenico Basso reckons his fastest time on the Lantosque-Luceram stage has made up for his frustrating start to Rallye Monte-Carlo.
Basso has admitted that his lack of knowledge of his Peugeot 207 Super 2000 has ruled out a strong result on the Intercontinental Rally Challenge qualifier.
The Italian, a four-time winner in the IRC, has closed to within 8.6s of 10th placed Toni Gardemeister following his stage victory.
“It’s important to do some good times to signal what we could have done on this rally had we known more about the car,” said Basso. “We start to have an idea now of what this car is about and I drove very well for those two stages.”
