Caffi says Turini spin was deliberate

Ex-grand prix racer Alex Caffi says his spin at the top of Col de Turini, which was captured live by Eurosport, was done on purpose.

Caffi rotated on the Moulinet-La Bollene Vesubie stage in his Škoda Fabia S2000 but managed to keep hold of his 12th position in the overall standings.

“The road was clear so I thought it would be a nice thing to do for the fans, a present, but then there was snow on the road and it was really crazy,” said Caffi. “My target is still to finish and I am really happy with how everything has gone.”
