Al-Attiyah up for another WTCC adventure
"If the opportunity is there and I am free"
Nasser Al-Attiyah would be keen to return to the FIA World Touring Car Championship when the series visits his native Qatar in November.
Al-Attiyah, currently contesting the Dakar Rally in South America, finished twice when he entered FIA WTCC DHL Race of Qatar last season, taking a Campos Racing Chevrolet Cruze to two Yokohama Drivers’ Trophy points finishes at the Losail International Circuit.
Speaking in Argentina earlier this week, Al-Attiyah said: “I’ve not actually started to think about this yet, but if the opportunity is there and I am free then why not? It was a lot of fun last time and I think it’s important for Qatar to have events like this. The motorsport in Qatar is getting bigger all the time and I want to do everything I can to help.”
Qatar hosted the WTCC’s first night race and the first to take place in the Middle East in 2015. This year’s floodlit spectacular is scheduled for 24-25 November and will again bring the curtain down on the WTCC season.
