Al-Attiyah closes on victory

Nasser Al-Attiyah has edged closer to his maiden victory in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge by winning the penultimate stage of the FxPro Cyprus Rally in his M-Sport Ford Fiesta S2000.

The Qatari’s stage best means he now leads Škoda Fabia driver Roger Feghali by 19.1 seconds heading into the final stage of the rally, the 16.58-kilometre Galataria stage.

Martin Prokop’s third fastest time through the stage means he demotes team-mate Jaromir Tarabus into fourth overall. Roman Kresta has slipped to sixth behind Cypriot Nicos Thomas.
