Jerez, Day 4: Ferrari test report

Scuderia Ferrari’s first pre-season test session ended today at Jerez de la Frontera.

For the second consecutive day, Fernando Alonso was at the wheel of the F14 T. Given the weather, work in the first part of the day centred on evaluating the Pirelli wet tyres and on further work on management of the various procedures that are used on the new car. In the afternoon, the team and driver were able to make some set-up adjustments on the F14 T.

In total, car number 14 covered 115 laps, the quickest in a time of 1.29.145. Over the four days, the F14 T did 252 laps, equivalent to 1116 kilometres.

“A busy and very demanding day, during which we were able to do a good number of laps, which is the real aim of this first test,” Fernando said to ferrari.com. “It’s difficult to get a clear picture of the behaviour of the wet tyres because the track conditions were in between damp and dry, which is maybe the worst situation for understanding how the Intermediates perform. The afternoon went well and we tried various aerodynamic and mechanical configurations, gathering a lot of data that will prove useful to continue the development work of the car.”

With the Jerez test now over, the next time the car will appear on track will be on 19 February at Sakhir, Bahrain, for the second test session that runs for four days until the 22nd.
