Button brings F1 to the Netherlands

Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver Jenson Button today drove his race car around the tranquil streets of Roggel, a village in the Limburg district of the Netherlands.

The normally quiet district of the Netherlands welcomed the 2009 World Champion, who was in the area to perform a run through a specially constructed 2.6km track that ran through the town. The event was held to mark the announcment that Leudal will be one of the first municipalities in the Netherlands to receive the super fast fibre optics and fibre optic services of Vodafone’s "Thuis".

The event was made available to local residents, who snapped up the 5,000 available tickets within three minutes of them being put on general sale. Three lucky inhabitants of Roggel also had the opportunity to challenge Jenson’s time in an F1 simulator that was constructed in the village, giving locals the opportunity to try and better the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes driver’s time.
