Bruno Senna: “It wasn’t ideal today”
Senna qualifies a disappointing 17th for Williams
Bruno Senna endured yet another frustrating qualifying session around the Marina Bay street circuit earlier today, as the 28-year-old Brazilian made contact with the wall during Q2, and subsequently qualified a lowly 17th in comparison to Maldonado’s superlative 2nd.
With the driving line-up at Williams still unconfirmed for next season, both Pastor Maldonado and Bruno Senna are striving to impress the Williams camp throughout final few races of the current season. With Pastor Maldonado doing just that and qualifying on the front row alongside Lewis Hamilton, Bruno Senna pushed way too hard during qualifying and tapped the barrier during Q2, prematurely ending his session.
“It wasn’t ideal today. I was pushing very hard to get a good lap but I pushed a little over the edge.” Admitted Bruno Senna, after his disastrous qualifying effort. “This place isn’t very forgiving so we broke the rear suspension. Unfortunately that brought an early end to qualifying but we now we need to focus on tomorrow. We have extra sets of new tyres now which I think everyone is going to need. We have a good car and it’s a long race. It isn’t easy to overtake here but we’ve raced from the back before. I’m going to need to push really hard to get some points out the race tomorrow.”
Bruno Senna has been the only points scorer for the Williams outfit since the Spanish Grand Prix, however the Brazilian driver still remains below team-mate Pastor Maldonado in the Drivers’ Championship. Senna currently sits 16th in the Drivers’ Championship, with only 25 points scored and only 4 points behind Maldonado.
