Briatore rules out Formula One return

Former Renault team principal Flavio Briatore has dismissed rumours that he could return to Formula One following the French court ruling that went in his favour following his lifetime ban imposed by the FIA.

"I will never manage another team in Formula One in my life," the Italian told the Daily Mirror. "But I have got my dignity back which is important after 20 years in the sport."

Briatore has always denied his involvement in the Singapore 2008 crash-gate scandal revolving around Nelson Piquet’s timely crash and the subsequent victory by then team-mate Fernando Alonso

"We had the report of FIA and the report of the stewards and there was no evidence that I was involved in the accident," he continued. "This is official."

Briatore meanwhile is taking further legal action against the FIA with regard to his driver management business. Briatore told the Daily Telegraph that his firm, FFBB, has lost Fernando Alonso and Heikki Kovalainen from his portfolio, something he believes is a result of the action taken by the sport’s governing body.
