Hungaroring, FP2: Tarquini narrowly beat Muller
Once again Team Aon struggled
Gabriele Tarquini topped the second free practice completing his last lap in 1:55.287, a time that narrowly beat Yvan Muller’s provisional fastest of 1:55.313.
Muller’s team-mate Rob Huff posted the third fastest lap of 1:55.662, just ahead of an impressive Darryl O’Young of Special Tuning Racing who was timed at 1:55.905, proving that SEAT cars have the pace to fight with Chevrolet.
Alain Menu was fifth fastest (1:56.038) followed by Pepe Oriola (1:56.618) and the best of the BMW cars, Tom Coronel’s (1:56.631).
Alex MacDowall drove the bamboo-engineering Chevrolet Cruze to set the eighth best time (1:56.705), just ahead of James Thompson’s LADA Granta that was timed at 1:56.705, which is very promising for the brand new Russian car. Tiago Monteiro completed the top ten.
Once again Team Aon struggled. James Nash and Tom Chilton remained at the bottom of the time sheet in 21st and 22nd positions.
