Ryan Tveter to race for Trident

Ryan Tveter will make his FIA Formula 2 debut this weekend with Trident, replacing the departed Ralph Boschung. The New York based driver previously competed with the Italian team in the 2017 and 2018 GP3 Series and achieved a raft of podiums and strong results.

The 25-year-old collected five podium finishes, over 145 points, and the fastest race lap at the last-ever GP3 Series race in Abu Dhabi last year. The American has a competitive history at the Red Bull Ring with a 5th and a 4th place finish in the 2017 GP3 feature and sprint races.

After the GP3 Series wrapped up its final round at the Yas Marina Circuit last year, Tveter got his first taste of FIA Formula 2 machinery with Trident during the official post season test, posting the 4th fastest time and fastest of the rookies during his first morning in the car.

Ahead of his debut, Ryan Tveter commented: “I am incredibly excited to be back with the Trident family again and am so grateful for the opportunity to make my debut in FIA Formula 2 this weekend in Austria.

“Together we have achieved some pretty remarkable results over the last two seasons and I thank Trident for showing their continued confidence in me. It’s been a bit of a long wait since my first F2 test in Abu Dhabi last year, but as you can imagine, I’m beyond excited to get back out on track."

Trident Team Manager Giacomo Ricci said: "I’m really happy to announce that Ryan will return to a grand prix weekend wearing the Trident Team colours in Spielberg. It could not be otherwise, given the strong bond that exists between Ryan and the team. We will give one hundred percent plus to provide Ryan with a car to the calibre of the results we know he can deliver."
