Wittmann confident after practice rally

Franz Wittmann says his winning run on Hessen Rallye Vogelsberg last weekend was the perfect preparation for the fourth round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge on Gran Canaria next week.

The Austrian used the German Rally Championship qualifier to reacclimatise to his Interwetten Racing Peugeot 207 Super 2000, which he last drove in anger on Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo in January, his last IRC appearance.

Hessen Rallye Vogelsberg used abrasive Tarmac roads, similar to the surface the IRC crews will encounter on Rally Islas Canarias, which starts on Thursday, 29 April.

Wittmann, who will be co-driven by German Klaus Wicha, said: “We only used two sets of tyres on the rally in order to simulate the strong abrasion we will face on Gran Canaria and that worked out very well.”
