Wilks: lack of experience cost me

Guy Wilks maintains his lack of knowledge of the stages around Curitiba cost him a shot at victory on the second round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, which finished yesterday evening.

Škoda UK driver Wilks was second to fellow Briton Kris Meeke on the high-speed gravel event and moves to within three points of championship leader Juho Hänninen.

He said: “I just didn’t know how the car was going to react over these bad speed bumps and that’s where I lost a little bit of time because I couldn’t commit enough. But that’s just experience knowing what you can and can’t do and also a bit of knowledge of the car, which I’m learning all the time.

“Obviously you always look to try and win rallies but we’re very pleased with second and to be second in the championship.”
