Wilks anxious to resume IRC bid in Yalta
"We need to get on top of the job"
Guy Wilks says he can’t wait to get back behind the wheel of his Peugeot UK 207 Super 2000 when the Intercontinental Rally Challenge resumes on the Prime Yalta Rally this week.
Wilks, who took a podium finish on the IRC season-opening Rallye Monte-Carlo in January, failed to finish the last round of the series in Corsica earlier this month.
“Following our crash in Corsica we want to get back in the car and make amends and that’s what we’ll be endeavouring to do on the Yalta Rally,” said the 30-year-old Briton. “It’s a new event for a lot of the IRC regulars but we need to get on top of the job and get a good result.”
Wilks, who has one IRC victory to his name, is co-driven by fellow Briton Phil Pugh. He currently holds sixth overall in the drivers’ standings and is one of 15 Super 2000 runners competing on the Ukrainian all-asphalt event, which runs from 2-4 June.
