Wilks and Škoda to star at UK rally show

Intercontinental Rally Challenge regular Guy Wilks will be one of the star attractions at the forthcoming Rallyday event at the Castle Combe race circuit in the west of England.

The Škoda UK Motorsport driver will perform demonstration laps in the Fabia Super 2000 he has been using in the IRC this season at the show on 18 September, which regularly attracts upwards of 10,000 spectators.

Rather than being accompanied by regular co-driver Phil Pugh, Wilks and the Škoda UK team will be donating high speed rides to three charities to auction off. They include Colin McRae Vision, which has a partnership agreement with Eurosport Events, the promoter of the IRC.

“Rallyday is a really good event with a fantastic atmosphere,” said Wilks. “There is always a great collection of rally cars, both modern and from a bygone era, and the access [that the fans] have to the cars and drivers is second to none. Although Castle Combe is a race circuit, it’s a great opportunity to put on a show for the large crowd of spectators.”

Tom Cave, who contested the IRC rounds in Monte Carlo and Ypres this season, will also be in action at Rallyday, driving his PROTON Satria Neo S2000.

“It will be good to be out in the PROTON again after the [retirement] on Ypres and to see if the engine is back together okay after its rebuild,” said Cave.
