Rafael Tulio will take a 40-second lead into the final day of the IRC 2WD Cup battle on Rally Argentina, round three of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

The experienced Brazilian, who is back at the wheel of his familiar Peugeot 206 after driving a car that wasn’t eligible for IRC points on the previous round in Curitiba, heads local hero Pablo Pelaez in a Honda Civic.

Pelaez had led the 2WD Cup division until the fifth stage when he dropped time and fell behind Tulio, who won a total of six stages on Saturday.

However, Pelaez will be able to take some consolation from the fact that if he remains in second place, then he will move to the top of the IRC 2WD Cup drivers’ standings.

Meanwhile, Luis Gius is third in his Ford Ka with fellow Argentine Alicia Reina one place behind in a Fiat Palio
