Tiago Monteiro forced to turn down the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Signature withdraws one car
Tiago Monteiro will not be participating in the 79th edition of the 24 hours of Le Mans. The Portuguese driver, who made a good impression in 2009, LMP1 the most competitive category for racing’s elite, initially had signed up for the most prestigious endurance race in the world for a 4th time, but reasons beyond his control have decided otherwise.
"I had planned to take part in the mythical 24 hours of Le Mans with Signature. They were going to run two cars but they recently had to decide to only start one car and therefore I wasn’t going to be able to race with them," Tiago Monteiro explained. "The other offers I received were not up to my ambition of fighting for the top places. So regretfully I will not be taking part in the 24 hours of Le Mans, but I hope that other opportunities will present themselves until june."
Tiago Monteiro will now be focusing on the upcoming races in the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) with SEAT-SunRed, which will be held April 22-24, on Belgium’s Zolder Circuit.
