The build-up to the FxPro Cyprus Rally, the final round of the 2010 Intercontinental Rally Challenge from 4-6 November, is underway with several drivers beginning their pre-event testing.

Cypriot Nicos Thomas, who will drive a Petrolina-backed Peugeot 207 Super 2000 on the event, is currently trying out his Munaretto-run car for the first time at a test site on the island. Brazil’s Daniel Oliveira is also sampling his 207, which is being run by the Austrian Stohl Racing concern, at the same venue.

Speaking from the test, Thomas said: “This is the first time I have driven the car and so far I have done 60 kilometres. I am concentrating on learning the car but I am also doing some work on the set-up although my lack of experience means I am not sure if what I am doing is correct.”

Away from the stages, the event organisers are also hosting a number of music concerts for the fans. On Sunday evening, Kokkina Chalia performed a special concert at the Pralina Blu Drivers’ Lounge located in the Rally Village, which is housed in the service park on the Germasogeia seafront in Limassol. DJ Kanaris will be performing on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 20:30hrs local time with more exciting events planned for later in the week.
