Marco Tempestini is treating Targa Florio-Rally Internazionale Di Sicilia as a fresh start as he resumes his bid to win the IRC Production Cup.

The Italy-born Romanian driver has endured a troubled start to the year in the Subaru Impreza R4 STI he shares with co-driver Dorin Pulpea following a series of technical problems, but he remains in title contention courtesy of finishing second in class on Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés back in March.

“We know exactly what our problems were, and I think this is the most important thing,” said Tempestini, who is seven points adrift of top spot in the IRC Production Cup standings. “In the last few weeks we worked intensely on correcting everything that went wrong inside the team, so I hope the Sicily event will represent a new start for us.”

He continued: “We had a lot of bad luck until now, but we’re still in a position that allows us to keep fighting to reach our goals. We need good results, like the one in the Canary Islands, and I hope that in Targa Florio Rally we’ll get as many points as possible.”

Tempestini is one of the favourites for IRC Production Cup honours in Sicily. Visit www.ircseries.com soon to find out about his pre-event test and for a glimpse of his car’s new-look colour scheme.
