Sordo linked to full campaign
Thirteen-round programme with Citroen on the cards for Spaniard
Citroen returnee Dani Sordo could yet become an ever-present in next year’s FIA World Rally Championship.
Sordo currently has a deal for 11 of the 13 rounds with the rallies in Sweden and France missing from his schedule. However, the Spaniard has been linked to a full roster of events, something Citroen boss Yves Matton hopes he can achieve.
“It’s important to have him at the start of the championship when everything can happen,” Matton told Motorsport News.
Sordo will represent the Citroen Total Abu Dhabi World Rally Team alongside Mikko Hirvonen on the nine rounds Sebastien Loeb does not tackle and will transfer to the sister Abu Dhabi Citroen Total World Rally Team operation - where he will partner Khalid Al-Qassimi - for his other two planned appearances when Loeb will be in action for the main factory squad.
“It doesn’t matter what is the name of the team, the car is the same,” said Sordo, who will pilot a Citroen DS3 WRC in 2013. “It’s looking good for Sweden and France now and, of course, I want to drive. I am hungry and really want to do everything.”
