Second stage win for Prokop
The Czech driver flies on SS3
The battle for victory on the FxPro Cyprus Rally has intensified after Martin Prokop (pictured) narrowed Nasser Al-Attiyah’s overall lead to 11.4s following a blistering run through the 27.10-kilometre Lythrodontas stage.
Prokop’s chances of winning the Intercontinental Rally Challenge qualifier suffered an early blow when he was handed a 20-second time penalty for leaving first service two minutes late. But he has hit back by setting the fastest time on Friday’s first two stages.
Roger Feghali is third overall in his Škoda Fabia Super 2000, while Bryan Bouffier continues his recovery from his stage two delay by going second quickest on stage three.
Cypriot driver Nicos Thomas completed the stage his Peugeot 207’s brakes malfunctioning and the gearchange mechanism not working properly.
