SWRC: Andersson in trouble
PROTON star drops out of SWRC lead battle
PG Andersson’s hopes of winning the Super 2000 World Rally Championship section of Rallye Monte-Carlo appear to be over with reports that he’s stopped in stage 16.
The Swede was leading the SWRC by a comfortable margin but is understood to have suffered a mechanical problem.
Kevin Abbring, running one place behind Andersson, reported the PROTON had stopped with a small fire after a hairpin.
Craig Breen, who moves into the class lead, said: “It’s very unfortunate for him and it’s not the circumstances I wanted to take over the lead.”
