SS8: Stage best for Latvala

Jari-Matti Latvala has gone fastest on the repeat of the Dyfi West stage in his efforts to claim his first victory in the World Rally Championship this season.

Driving a Ford Fiesta RS WRC, Latvala was 5.4s quicker than Wales Rally GB leader Sebastien Loeb through the 10.31-kilometre stage, which took place in increasingly wet and muddy conditions. He is now 12.3s behind the Frenchman in the overall standings.

Kris Meeke impressed with the second fastest time in his MINI John Cooper Works WRC. The Northern Irishman is battling back from time lost with an alternator glitch on stage seven.

Behind Loeb, Petter Solberg was fourth quickest in his self-run Citroen. Mads Ostberg set the fifth best time in his M-Sport Stobart Fiesta. Factory Citroen driver Sebastien Ogier was sixth quickest.
