SS7: IRC newcomer Sordo fastest again

MINI driver Dani Sordo has made it two stage wins in a row on Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse to increase his lead of round four of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge to 29.s.

In the battle for second place, Pierre Campana is just 0.2s adrift of Jan Kopecký with Bryan Bouffier 6.5s further behind in his Peugeot.

“I knew from the recce the stage would be difficult but it is also very beautiful, very flowing and I really enjoyed it,” said Sordo. “We made the car a bit lower for this stage and it was unbelievable.”

Campana, who was second fastest through the 15.28-kilometre test, said: “It’s a very good battle, the car is good now with the different differential settings we are using. We also have a new driveshaft. I am very happy.”

After posting the third quickest time, Bouffier said: “I am trying to battle with the guys in front but each time they are taking time out of me. At least in myself I am now feeling much better.”

Marty McCormack is reporting a misfire when running at low revs in his PSEngineering M-Sport Ford Fiesta.
