SS3: Hanninen finished the day first

Bruno Magalhães has moved ahead of Andreas Mikkelsen into second place on Sata Rallye Açores following the third stage of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge qualifier.

The Peugeot Sport Portugal ace was third quickest through the Grupo Marques superspecial and is now 4.3s adrift of overall leader Juho Hänninen, who was fastest through the stage in his ŠKODA Motorsport Fabia in front of several thousand fans.

Mikkelsen led after stage one but lost time on the second test when his car suffered powersteering failure four kilometres from the end of the stage. He lost further ground through the tight and twisty superspecial and is 5.7s off the lead heading to the overnight halt in Ponta Delgada.

Toshi Arai spun his Subaru Impreza STI R4 on the stage and stalled his engine. He has slipped to 10th overall behind Vitor Lopes.
