Leading car make Renault’s chances of extending its lead of the IRC 2WD Cup have been improved with the exciting news that rallying legend François Delecour will contest Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse in a Renault Mégane RS.

Delecour, Emmanuel Guigou and Robert Consani are among a number of drivers set to compete on the island event in the Mégane, which is also eligible for IRC Production Cup points.

“From what I can see, [the Mégane] should be very well suited to Corsica: it’s progressive to drive, very neutral,” said Delecour. “I like the rally very much and we’ve had plenty of success there.”

Honda is Renault’s key rival for IRC 2WD Cup honours. The Japanese organisation is defending its IRC 2WD Cup manufacturers’ crown this season.

Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse takes place from 9-12 May.
