Rally Islas Canarias gets renewed backing

Agreement was finalised with the Deputy President Román Rodríguez

Luis Monzon, the promoter of Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés, round two of the 2011 Intercontinental Rally Challenge, has expressed his delight following confirmation that the event will continue to enjoy the support of the island of Gran Canaria.

Monzon was speaking after an agreement was finalised with the Deputy President Román Rodríguez recently.

He said: “I’m excited and I hope to be able to express my delight with this news that Vice President of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, D. Román Rodríguez, has agreed to continue supporting the Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés.”

The all-asphalt Rally Islas Canarias, which joined the IRC for the first time in 2010 and is based in Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, takes place from 14-16 April.

A number of star names from the IRC are due to take part including Škoda drivers Freddy Loix and Andreas Mikkelsen and Peugeot pilot Guy Wilks.
