Italian Junior champion has high hopes for IRC 2WD Cup success in Sicily

Welcome to the IRC Simone, what’s your objective for Targa Florio?

“For sure I try to win the IRC 2WD Cup but for sure I know the rally will be difficult and this will only be my second time in Sicily. The roads can be very slippery and in a two-wheel-drive car this is more complicated. I know some of the stages but there are also two new stages.”

What do you know about your rivals in the IRC 2WD Cup?

“I have heard about Harry Hunt [the 2010 champion] and Martin Kangur drives a Honda that is built by the JAS team in Italy so I know he can be strong too. But, to be honest, for the first year it is not so easy with two loops of the recce.”

You were once considered to be a gravel specialist. How good are you on asphalt?

“Before I was better on gravel because I had more experience. But coming back to the Italian championship means lots of Tarmac. This has given me new experience and I am proud of my level.”
