Honda’s rising Estonian star on driving on ice and following his fearless father

When did you start competing?

“It was in 2005 when I was 12 years old. I began by driving an old Ford Fiesta on frozen lakes. Then I started in proper rallies and now here I am in the IRC with Honda.”

You’ve achieved considerable success in the IRC 2WD Cup. What do you put that down to?

“I don’t know why I’ve been getting some good results. Maybe it comes from my father who was a ski jumper and was eight times the Estonian champion. Maybe, like him, I have no fear.”

What have you got planned for the summer?

“I will do Sibiu Rally in Romania next. It’s actually the same weekend as Rally Estonia, the biggest rally in my country. I have also just finished my school exams and I’m considering going to universi
