Prokop to keep active in Estonia

Martin Prokop will keep active ahead of his next appearance in the FIA World Rally Championship in Finland in early August by contesting Rally Estonia from 20-21 July.

Prokop hasn’t included the upcoming Brother Rally New Zealand in his schedule for 2012 so will contest the non-championship event in Estonia to keep match fit ahead of Neste Oil Rally Finland.

“Rally Estonia is a good preparation for us before Rally Finland,” said Prokop. “This year it is very necessary because we’re driving a World Rally Car which has a lot more speed. The roads in Otepaa are similar to Finland and like last year we will focus on getting a good set-up and feeling for Finland, and, of course we will fight for the high places.”

Prokop has enjoyed a strong run of late in the world championship with a trio of top five finishes in his Czech Ford National Team Fiesta RS WRC, including fifth place on the Acropolis Rally in Greece last month.

“I am happy like hell,” said the former Junior world champion following his impressive showing in Greece. “It was a really hard rally. If someone had told me before the start that I would finish fifth, I wouldn’t believe him.”
