Peugeot ace Andreucci wants more IRC (…)

Paolo Andreucci followed up his stunning second place finish on Rally d’Italia-Sardegna last weekend by revealing his desire to tackle more rounds of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge this season in his Peugeot Italia 207 Super 2000.

The 45-year-old Italian completed the opening leg of the island event in first place. Although he dropped to second at the finish, he did so after fending off the advances of Skoda Motorsport driver Jan Kopecky, who had to settle for third overall following a close battle between the pair.

Andreucci is due to contest the IRC-counting Rallye Sanremo in September, which is also a round of the Italian Rally Championship, but co-driver Anna Andreussi admitted they were keen to make additional appearances in the series.

"Of course we want to do more events but it is a question for Peugeot to decide. We are waiting for the call," said Andreussi.

Andreucci’s second place finish propels him to seventh overall in the IRC drivers’ standings.
