Daniel Oliveira says he is “very honoured” to have been given the opportunity to represent his country on eight rounds of this year’s Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

The 24-year-old from Brazil made his IRC debut on Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo in January at the wheel of a Stohl Racing-run Peugeot 207 Super 2000. He will start his second IRC event in Curitiba tomorrow.

“I am really very honored to be the first driver in the IRC to represent Brazil on a full-time basis,” said Oliveira. “It means I am opening some doors for other drivers from my country to try and do the same thing. I know it is a great challenge and I will do the best representing my country.”

Oliveira will be navigated by the vastly experienced Frenchman Denis Giraudet in Curitiba. They began their partnership by competing on Rally Mina Clavero, a round of the Argentine championship, last month. Unfortunately a steering arm failure on the final stage forced them to retire.
