Ogier wins Rally Poland
The world champion takes his fifth win of the season
VW Motorsport’s Sebastien Ogier has won his fifth rally of the year after dominating on the fast gravel stages at LOTOS 71st Rally Poland.
The reigning World Rally Champion led the way for 18 of the 22 stages in Poland to beat team-mate Andreas Mikkelsen by 1m 07.7s.
Third place went to Thierry Neuville who gave Hyundai its second podium finish of the season with the fast-improving i20 WRC. He was a further 1m 05.08s behind Mikkelsen’s Polo R WRC.
The rally ended with the battle for bonus championship on the ‘Baranowo’ Power Stage. After 14.90km of hard driving, Ogier was quickest by 1.5s to claim three extra points, while Mikkelsen was second and Jari-Matti Latvala was third.
