O’Young is Chevrolet’s ambassador in China
First taste of what WTCC is to the fans in Mainland China
Chevrolet and Hong Kong driver Darryl O’Young offered the first taste of what WTCC is to the fans in Mainland China.
Following the world championship finale in Macau, one of the Chevrolet Cruze race cars was sent for an exhibition to Guangdong International Circuit last weekend, during the final event of the China Touring Car Championship.
For the occasion, Chevrolet China had organised a contest amongst customers and fans from around the country. The winners had the opportunity to participate in a driving stage, to test the new Cruze 1.6 turbo road model and to participate in a tournament with race-spec Cruze cars.
O’Young acted as the racing coach over the weekend and the man behind the wheel of the Cruze WTCC which sported the Chinese flag and completed some laps on the CTCC race day.
“To drive the World Champion car in front of a crowd of many thousands of people, was a terrific and very rewarding experience. We did 30 laps, in three different runs, on a circuit which is tight and twisty, and certainly very interesting from a technical point of view,” O’Young commented.
