Nikara prepares for Corsica with two-day test

Jarkko Nikara is gearing up for next week’s Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse, the fourth round of the all-action International Rally Challenge, with a two-day test in France.

Nikara will sample his R4-specification Subaru Impreza WRX STI on Thursday and Friday when he links up with co-driver and fellow Finn Jarkko Kalliolepo.

The 28-year-old Nikara has never competed in Corsica before and says he cannot wait to try out his new Impreza, which is being prepared by the respected Tommi Mäkinen Racing from Finland.

“These two days will be very important because I don’t know the car or my Yokohama tyres,” said Nikara. “I also have not driven so much on Tarmac but I like to drive on Tarmac and I am confident that I can do well.”

Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse runs from 9-12 May. Eurosport will show extensive live coverage of the event, including the final stage, the 28.96-kilometre Marinca-Cagnano test on Saturday 12 May.
