New Peugeot star set for maiden IRC run

Talented young French driver Germain Bonnefis has been handed a dream opportunity to demonstrate his potential in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

Bonnefis, the winner of the highly competitive Volant 207 title in 2011 – Peugeot’s one-make rally series – will drive a Peugeot 207 Super 2000 on Rally San Marino this week in recognition of his continued progress.

“It’s a tremendous opportunity,” said Bonnefis. “San Marino will only be my second event outside of France.”

Bonnefis and co-driver Olivier Fournier are frontrunners in the French Gravel championship. The loose-surface Rally San Marino, round seven of the 2012 IRC season, takes place from 5-7 July.
