Neuville: cautious approach not easy
Belgian youngster intent on reaching the finish in Greece
Thierry Neuville has revealed his cautious approach on the Acropolis Rally is making it tough going on round six of the FIA World Rally Championship powered by Nokia.
Neuville is determined to finish the Greek round without the need of Rally 2 after failing to go the distance on several events this season in the Citroen Junior World Rally Team DS3 WRC he shares with co-driver Nicolas Gilsoul.
“It’s a little strange to drive like this because I know I can be faster,” said the 23-year-old Belgian. “But I can’t be too dangerous and have to drive the perfect rally with no mistakes. The problem is things are not normal because when you slow down because you don’t have the same rhythm and that means you are not so confident.”
Following Saturday’s first stage Neuville is 11th overall after dropping several minutes on Friday’s final test when a driveshaft broke on his car.
