Moura on course for Azores glory

Ricardo Moura is on course for a hat trick of accolades on Sata Rallye Açores.

Not only is he heading for maximum points in the Azorean and Portuguese rally championships, the local hero also tops the IRC Production Cup standings at the wheel of the Ralliart Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX he shares with co-driver Sandro Eiró.

Reflecting on his performance on the second day of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge event, Moura said: “It is going to plan. We were more cautious today because there was no need to take big risks when there were rocks and stones on the road. We need to bring the car to the finish and that’s what we are doing.”

With Vitor Lopes and Vitor Pascoal behind Moura in their Subaru Impreza and Ralliart Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X respectively the stage is set for a Portuguese podium lockout in the IRC Production Cup, a new addition to the IRC for 2011.
