More rallying joy for IRC ace Kopecký

One week after winning Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés for a second time, Jan Kopecký has yet more reason for celebration following his victory on the Bonver Valašská Rally.

Driving a ŠKODA Motorsport Fabia Super 2000 alongside navigator Pavel Dresler, Kopecký led the Czech championship rally from start to finish to secure his second victory of the season in his domestic series.

“We are absolutely satisfied, because we have won all this year’s events,” said the 30-year-old Kopecky, runner-up in the IRC standings for the past three seasons. “And we are also pleased to have given a very good performance to our home fans. I wish to thank the whole team, we have a busy agenda and all the team members are supporting us excellently.”

Roman Kresta, who has contested selected IRC rounds in the past, finished second in another Fabia.

Kopecký will be back on IRC duty on next month’s Donnelly Group Circuit of Ireland Rally following confirmation of his entry on round three of the all-action IRC season. He is currently second overall in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge drivers’ standings.
