Marty McCormack and co-driver David Moynihan are working flat out to secure the funds necessary to contest next month’s Giru di Corsica-Tour de Corse.

They scored an impressive victory in the IRC 2WD Cup section on the Donnelly Group Circuit of Ireland Rally earlier this month and now want to build on that success by competing in Corsica, where they would come up against rallying legend François Delecour.

Delecour will take part on the island rally, which will be covered live on Eurosport, in a Renault Mégane RS, making him eligible for the hugely competitive IRC 2WD Cup.

“We’ve got some of the budget in place but we still need more money to secure the hire of the Citroën DS3 R3T we plan to use,” said McCormack. “David and I really hope to continue in the series and it would be very frustrating if we couldn’t battle with the legend that is François Delecour in Corsica.”

If McCormack and Moynihan are able to finalise an entry on the asphalt event from 9-12 May then they would be among the favourites for IRC 2WD Cup success following their performance in Northern Ireland last time out. It was their first event for more than six months and their performance earned McCormack the prestigious Colin McRae IRC Flat Out Trophy.
